About Us
What exactly is AStA?
The General Student Committee (AStA) is the executive body of the student body and is elected once a year. It represents the interests of students, i.e. your interests, within the university and also takes care of your concerns in everyday university life.
Who elects the AstA?
Each winter semester, you elect various university groups to the Student Parliament (StuPa) at the University of Cologne. The StuPa then elects the AStA, which consists of a three-member executive committee and various representatives who work on specific topics together with project managers.
How the AStA operates
The executive committee and the representatives meet weekly at the AStA assembly to make all important decisions and are in constant communication with various actors in politics and the university, as well as with student groups, in order to represent your interests.
