Emergency shelter

Finally, we can offer again the emergency shelter from 1st to 31st of October 2026.

Since 30 Sep the registration is closed, if you still have urgent need for ermergency accommodation, please write to the Mail-address below.

At the start of the semester, there is a huge rush on the Cologne housing market and unfortunately not all students manage to find accommodation in time for the start of lectures. The emergency shelter is a project that offers students without a place to stay in and around Cologne a free place to sleep at the start of the semester. As the name suggests, this is a temporary solution and not a long-term option.

The emergency shelter is a hall in the Catholic University Community, where 30 people can sleep on air mattresses. In recent years, shower facilities have been kindly provided by UniSport near the university.

The Department of Social Affairs and International Relations is available for questions at notschlafstelle@asta.uni-koeln.de.
